Most experts note that it’s best to start small.

So, a good first step is to think in individual words.
那么,比较好的第一步是思考单个的单词怎么说。
Look around you. What do you see?
看看你的周围,大家都能看到什么呢?
In your head, try to name each object in your surroundings.
试着在脑海里喊出周围物体的名字。
Another exercise is describing in your mind objects you don’t know the words for.
另一种练习方式是在脑海里描述不知道怎么说的单词。
Here is an example. If you are looking at your room and you see your bookshelf, but you can’t think of the name in English, you can say, “The place inside my room where I put my books.”
比如,你看看的房间,看到了书架。但你不知道这个词用于怎么说,那么你可以说:“是我放书的地方。”
Or you can say, “It’s next to the TV set in my room. I keep books there.”
或者你也可以说,“它在我房间的电视柜旁。我把书放在那。”
The next exercise is thinking in simple sentences.
下一种练习方式是思考简单的句子。
For instance, if you are lying on the bed, you can tell yourself things like, “It’s such a difficult day” and “People are trying their best to fight the virus.” Or you might say to yourself, “I am really good at sleeping! I could do it with my eyes closed!”
比如,如果你躺在床上,你可能会自言自语说,“今天又是艰难的一天,人们正在为战胜病毒而奋斗。”你也可能会说:“我真的超擅长睡觉,这件事我闭着眼睛都能做!“
Once this becomes easy, you can move on to more difficult sentences.

Another exercise experts suggest is to describe your daily activities.

There are a few ways to do this.
做这个练习有几种方式。
Beginning-level students can describe their day using the simple present verb form.
初级阶段的学生可以用动词一般现在时来描述自己的一天。
So, you would think to yourselves things like, “I wash my hands carefully. It is especially important these days” and “Nearly no one takes a walk after dinner in my neighborhood .”
你可以在脑海里想一些句子,比如“最近这些日子,认真洗手尤其重要。”或者 “小区里最近几乎没有人饭后散步了。”
Other experts say you can mentally make plans in the morning when you wake up or have a reflection of the day before you go to bed at night.

These would require other verb tenses, so the skill level is a little higher.
做这样的练习需要用到其他的动词时态,因此难度也相对稍微高一些。

Since all of you can’t go to school and meet your friends for a long period of time, when you do this, you are imagining yourself speaking to someone else.

Sounds to be a little weird? But it works.
听上去有些怪怪的吧?但它的确有效。
You are asking the questions and thinking of replies.
自己问问题并思考如何作答吧。
For all of these exercises, there will certainly be words and phrases that you do not know.
在做以上这些时,肯定会有些单词或短语是你不知道的。
Therefore, at some point you will need to use a dictionary.
因此,有时候就需要一本词典。
If your skill level is high enough, you might consider using an English-to-English dictionary.
如果你的水平够高,你可以考虑用英英词典。
Writing down five to ten new words and phrases each day may help a lot.
每天写下5-10个新的单词和短语会对你有很大的帮助。
Doing them every day, over and over, little by little, that’s the key.

Because, when you make things a habit, then it just pops up into your mind without thinking and then, before you know it, really, you’re thinking in English.
